Southern Folk

Southern Folk consists of two emcees, Marques Parks (Mr. Quiji) and Kevin Heard (Kev da Key). The rap duo is based in Atlanta, GA. The group has been together for over seven years and is the primary, show stopping act of Wrap Tyte Entertainment. Southern Folk began by dominating local talent shows and quickly worked their way up the ladder of the highly competitive underground Atlanta rap scene by winning every showcase they entered from Atlanta to Savannah as they began to break out into other parts of the region ranging from the Carolinas to Florida.

Through their hard work, steadily increasing popularity and rising demand for their music, Southern Folk began headlining their own shows at Lenny's Bar in Atlanta alongside their GA Militia affiliates The Wheeler Boys. Thus going on to make their presence officially felt in their city by sharing the stage with the likes of Killer Mike, Khujo Goodie, Cool Breeze, Nappy Roots and other legends from the South. Southern Folk's music not only reflects their real life experiences, but also focuses on current events, social change, and the general state of the world today. A prime example is the song "Unemployed" in which the group directly addresses the rising unemployment rate and the recession citing both personal and global experiences as the subject matter for the song. "Unemployed" has since proven itself to be a certified hit single. The two emcees have truly mastered the art of word play as well as the craft of poetry in motion to cultivate their own unique individual styles and forge their own distinct brand of music. While both are uniquely talented and gifted individuals, the synergy of combining the two is nothing short of phenomenal whether live on stage or recorded.

In 2008 the group became Slip-N-Slide DJ's promo artist and have won the Red Carpet Independent Artist/DJ Award twice, in 2009 and 2010. The Slip-N-Slide DJ's helped to promote and break the hit singles "Look At Me" and ".38 Hot", both of which have been featured on numerous mix tapes by various, well established DJs in the game right now. With Southern Folk constantly on their grind, investing in themselves, and a strong team behind them, plus a loyal and ever growing fan base the group is sure to be well on their way to hip hop stardom.
